Finally launched the new Artovermatter website. Pretty excited about it.
Still tweaking and refining, I don’t think it’ll ever end.

However, what’s really exciting, is that Artovermatter now introduces A Set A Day.

A COLLECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS COMBINED AS A SINGLE SET
CONSISTING OF FIVE OR MORE PHOTOS THAT ARE POSTED DAILY.
A SINGLE SET OF PHOTOGRAPHS EACH DAY, FOR 100 DAYS.

Check out the first set called Across the Water

I’m reluctant to keep talking about Apple/iPhone/Steve Jobs. But this youtube video of Jonathan Mann and his duet with Siri, is pretty funny (see below). In the big scheme of things, isn’t this what we do daily? How closely related are you to your technologies? Sometimes perhaps more than your family and people around you. So, I think this parody speaks to our dance or interaction with technology.

About Jonathan Mann, this guy is pretty cool He has been writing a song a day for over 1000 days, and he has recorded his own album this year. Check out his youtube channel.

The question is.. What’s Your Vision?

A good friend of mine @DavidCitraNg, tweeted this article this morning

Basically it’s about Apple’s vision video from 1987 on the Knowledge Navigator that pretty much foreshadowed the functions of iPad, Siri and Facetime today. That was 24 years ago. I am amazed by this. But I think this is what a Vision is suppose to do. How many corporations or individuals claim to have a vision that drive them forward, yet in years to come, nothing come to life? Do we give up, find a different vision and move on? Was it a vision to begin with or was it simply an idea?

The first two definition of “vision” from Dictionary.com:

For entrepreneurs out there like myself, what is your Vision? What is it that you want to come to be for your business, your organization, your life?

I have several projects in mind waiting to be executed. I have to be honest, it’s hard to focus and really pour yourself out if you don’t know exactly what you want. I could easily fall into the trap of being like everyone else, doing what everyone else does, and then what? A Vision drives you forward, encourages you to keep going, and keeps you going straight toward your goal.

Another important thing is a Mission Statement. The difference between a vision statement and a mission statement, as I understood, is that a Vision statement is a your goal, where you want to go. A Mission statement defines your steps, what you would do specifically to fulfill your vision.

So let’s take the time to sit down, formulate a vision and a mission statement, may it be in form of an audio recording or a video composition like Apple’s:

The world is at a loss today, October 5, 2011. As Apple.com says, “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.”

The best and most comprehensive article I found so far is from The Wall Street Journal, read here. The article paints Steve Jobs as who he was. He has left a couple of legacy, Apple and Pixar. A college dropout, a perfectionist, a straight-forward, focused visionary with high standard all around. I wonder if Apple will ever be the same. Can Tim Cook perform as well as his predecessor? Somehow I doubt it. It’s one of those thing, either you have it, or you don’t. And based on Tim Cook’s keynote performance during the iPhone 4S, it’s going to be a tough fight for Apple.

Apple.com Tribute to Steve Jobs

On the more upbeat note, watch this youtube video:

Here’s what it boils down to:
No iPhone 5, just iPhone 4S.

Courtesy of Engadget:

Why I would get it:

Siri – Your own personal assistant, programmed to recognize and understand natural language, conversational, contextual commands. Definitely would boost production for busy people on the go like me who could easily forget things. I’ll just tell Siri to note everything!

Better camera technology – 8 megapixels camera, 73% more light, 33% faster capture, better color accuracy, 30% more sharpness, f/2.4 aperture, 26% better white balance. It’s a great camera on the go Let’s hope there’s green tint problem anymore.

World phone – I’d get the 4S for sure if it supports Mobilicity!

iMessage – I’d like to see how this compares to Blackberry Messenger

My contract with Fido has just expired

Why I Wouldn’t Get It:

Looks the same as iPhone 4s. yes simply as that.

I still enjoy the convenience of Blackberry Messenger

iPhone 5 might come as soon as the first six months of next year. Apple always comes up with the latest innovative design, so I would wait, that’s no problem.

New Features:

Facebook seems to be expanding its features daily that it’s getting way too complicated. It seems to be a good time to switch to Google Plus (Add me to your circle). Mashable had quite a few articles on Facebook this morning, here they are:

I’m curious to see what people think about Facebook’s new features and whether anyone else also think that Google Plus is a perfect replacement from Facebook.

Would you be disappointed if Apple released an iPhone 4S instead of an iPhone 5?

At first glance at the question, I’d say I would be disappointed since I’ve been waiting for it. But at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter, I can live with the iPhone 4. If Macrumors have been correct, then there should be another release within the first six months of next year, which is a not too long from now. I’d rather wait than to get an iPhone 5 now only to be replaced by iPhone 6 in a few months.

More official video: Nikon V1 | Nikon J1

You’ve seen it. A breakthrough in technology and design they said, a mirrorless camera system with a lot of helpful features. The video and the list of features looks promising. Some highlights:

An incredible 73-point AF array – super fast auto focus — I heard it’s the world’s fastest autofocus!

Simultaneously capture full HD (1080p) photo and video — Okay, what good digital camera can’t take 1080p video now? It’s the new standard.

Smart photo selector – takes 20 full-res image in one shot, the camera then selects 5 photos with the best exposure, composition, non-blurry and facial expression (eyes not closed). — Pretty smart, but this is not new, I personally don’t mind going through my photos and selecting the best one, technology sometimes would fail, so I wouldn’t take my chances.

Motion Snapshot – is hard to describe.. a combination of still image with a movie vignette, in 2.5x slow motion, designed to bring photographic event to live — Genious!

This camera will be on sale on October 20th. Available lenses are: 10-30mm ƒ/3.5-5.6, 30-110mm ƒ/3.8-5.6 for $249.95, 10mm ƒ/2.8 for $249.95, and 10-100mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 for $749.95. Color choices: black, white, silver, red, pink.

Nikon 1 Lenses

Price: Very steep I’d say. With digital cameras ranging from $100-300 these days, the new Nikon 1 is way above the range. If Nikon 1 was a digital SLR, then sure it makes sense, but as a point and shoot, I don’t think that price tag will last.

Nikon J1 starts at $649.95
Nikon V1 starts at $899.95

This is actually quite funny. A guy named Jason has a handle called @Qwikster. Yesterday he was a nobody, this morning he has almost 11k followers and trying to make big bucks. All because Netflix split their DVD and streaming business yesterday and used the name Qwikster for their DVD services, WITHOUT checking Twitter first. So Jason owns @Qwikster, big deal, so what.

I quote TechCrunch in this:

Someone should probably tell Jason that selling Twitter handles is strictly against Twitter’s Terms Of Service, and attempts to do so can quickly result in the banhammer being dropped. Then Qwikster gets their name, free of charge. (Article)

For fun though, follow @Qwikster for more updates. Let’s see if this issue can be resolved by the end of this week, and let’s see how much money Jason can make. Personally I wonder how many people would follow suit and start making dummy twitter handle for potentially sellable names for corporations out there.

Google has just announced the official launch of Google Wallet, following its announcement last May. This app essentially replaces your wallet. If you have an Android phone, you can simply tap and pay for your purchases using your phone. See the following video for more details:

Downside: The Google Wallet app is currently on its beginning stages, right now it’s only exclusively available on the Sprint Nexus S. It currently only allows you to pay using Citi Mastercard and Google PrePaid Card.

Upside: Wallet reportedly will soon support Visa, Discover and American Express. And as a BONUS, Google adds $10 in Google Prepaid Card if you try out the app before the end of the year
